I know I could use a professional profiling service to generate an ICM, but before I do that, I figured I would ask the pros in this forum if it is worth bothering trying to print those panoramic photos with this Workforce printer, or if I should just do those odd dimension prints at a printer lab instead. Just a hobbyist who prints at home - with a huge house and tons of currently empty walls that will likely be getting covered with frames of my favorite photos over time. something like 12x36", a size the Canon cannot print to, but the Epson can. The goal would be to use the Workforce for some panoramic prints, ie. I have to believe that the capable is capable of better than what I'm getting out of it currently.

That is true regardless of the driver "paper" settings I use, and type of paper I print on. The poor photo quality on the Workforce is not just in terms of color accuracy, but also the fact that colors always look so washed out, and overall too bright. I haven't tried that one on the Workforce because I feel it would likely just be wasted on it. And some Epson metallic paper too that looks great on the Canon. I have a number of different papers - Canon brand, Costco brand, and rolls from Kodak and Epson. In any case, that is not my paper of choice for photo prints.

Interestingly, that same paper works fine in the Epson too, but doesn't work at all in the Canon. It's almost as bad as what I get out of my Brother MFC-L8850CDW all-in-one laser, now that I found a semi-glossy paper (Xerox Bold) that actually works on the Brother without melting. I realize the Workforce is only a 4-color printer, but the Pro-100 photo quality runs so far ahead of it that it makes the Workforce print look absolutely terrible.

I have had both printers for about the same amount of time. I use Precision Color ink in both printers - dye for the Canon, pigment for the Epson. A year ago, I purchased the above printer, mostly for its ability to print long banners (up to 48") and for pigment inks that are better for tshirt transfers than dye.
